Well this is different. It’s good to see Vigil’s background, though.
Bit of a change of pace, isn’t it! Just one more page of flashback to go, and then we’ll be back on the Blight planet for the conclusion of the story. I’m glad you’re enjoying the insight into Vigil’s origins – I won’t be telling the whole story here – have to leave a little mystery!
Interesting moral question: do you take the concretely positive option of marrying the… prince, I guess?… which is sure to help your people, or do you take the merely potentially positive option of hot-dogging around the universe like a nubile Lone Ranger, following your dreams but dissing your ‘hood? An obvious answer to a youngster, but a complicated issue in reality. Well, you know, “reality.”
Speaking of hoods, Vigil’s look here is very effective in conveying her slightly younger age. A combination of hair and features, perhaps? Doamna’s elven Doctor Doom getup is an interesting surprise — from her previous floating head appearances, I just assumed she’s be wearing pretty much what Vigil is, but with the crown. I like this better, though.
Sorry Dan – can’t get past ‘nubile Lone Ranger!’ hee hee! ahem, sorry – moving on! The moral question is about to take a slightly more complex turn on the next page, as we’ll see!
Visual stuff: Yeah Vigil does look younger here which is kind of odd as she’s wearing make up. I think a lot of it is down to the clothing and body language rather than drawing her differently – the ‘modern’ Vigil is certainly much more confident. As for the Doamna’s look – I wasn’t sure until very recently what she’d look like – but ultimately the look was decided by her role as Vigil’s guard. She’ll probably have more than one outfit as the series goes on but I wanted to introduce her as a fighter.

Its good to find a hero’s background capable of fitting with the story in some shape or form. Thank you, flashbacks.
Also, thank you Dan for making note of the Doctor Doom-esque armor worn by Doamna. XD
We’ll see how this ties in to the main story in a couple of pages – but it’s all planned out – honest! (Why does no-one ever believe me!? lol!) Thanks for commenting!
